Bradford: Scriptwriting Masterclass with the BBC & Freedom Studios

BBC Writersroom Masterclass in Scriptwriting

Bradford City of Film has teamed up with Freedom Studios and the BBC Writersroom to deliver a masterclass in scriptwriting.
This workshop is for writers of all genres and is based on John Yorke's 10 Questions method. Mark Catley and Henry Swindell, New Writing Manager, BBC writersroom North, will examine the universality of storytelling structure and help writers create a useful template for making sure their narrative is as strong as it can be, BEFORE they start writing it.

Participants are asked to re-watch one of their favourite films before attending the lecture as Mark and Henry will be going through the 10 questions using these films as a litmus test. (Please choose a well known film, as it helps if the majority of the group has a working knowledge of it.)

Director of Bradford City of Film said; “this is a great opportunity for people to really get to grips with how to tell a story whether it is for stage or screen. We are hoping todevelop a series of screenwriting workshops in the future as the stories are so important in the development of a successful film.”

Deborah Dickenson, Creative Producer at Freedom Studios said: “Freedom Studios is committed to supporting people who want to tell their own stories and to offer development opportunities for writers whose voices are often unheard. This masterclass is an inspiring platform for any would-be story-teller.”
