Brit Writers' Awards Latest: American Writers' Awards

So the Brit Writers' Awards has now spawned the American Writers' Awards over the pond. More details here.

Though no one has yet been able to conclusively prove BWA are scam artists (and I don't think they think they are), there are still lots of unanswered questions hanging over them. Namely that they can actually offer the quality of service demanded by their fees.

BWA seems to me to be one of those parasitic organisations that feeds off writers, as opposed to supporting them. The one good thing, though, is that they offer a £10,000 prize (but with tens of thousands of entrants per year, you most likely have no chance of winning it).

I'd rather take my chances with a reputable prize (and some of them do pay this much and more).

The problem could be dealt with swiftly if they referred to what they do as 'author services' rather than trying to pass it off as some great act of philanthropy.
