Missing Hero: Syrian Poet Abu Hanin

This is an inspiring testament to the humanity of others and the worldwide support for free exression. Poet Abu Hanin was among a number of Syrian activists who supported community reporters in Syria, and who helped return Western reporters to their home countries, where they were reunited with their loved ones. Avaaz writes:
This morning, 4 western journalists are home safe with their families, the echoes of the horror and heroism of Baba Amr still ringing in their ears. Over 50 Syrian activists, supported by Avaaz, volunteered to rescue them and scores of wounded civilians from the Syrian army’s killzone. Many of those incredible activists have not survived the week.
Meanwhile, as these journalists have returned home, Abu and his friends have vanished.

You can help Avaaz in their quest to bring hope to Syria here. It seems to be more important than ever to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters over there.
