Gone Publishing: Ebook Discounts and the War Against Amazon

IPG is the latest bookish organisation to take up arms against Amazon's monopoly.

Currently the distributor is fighting for better terms for its publishers. The reason being: we have the absurd situation where the Big Six get the agency model (a 70% cut for them) and the indies get the wholesale model (50% or less).

IPG's point is a simple one: fairness. And if no one stands up now, then it won't be long before Amazon dictates all the rules of publishing.

I wonder how this will pan out.
