The Big Diamond Jubilee Read

The National Literacy Trust has teamed up with Oxford University Press to bring schools an exciting new competition to motivate pupils in the summer term and to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
By taking part in The Big Diamond Jubilee Read pupils will set off on their own Commonwealth tour reading books and share their favourite reads by writing to children in other Commonwealth countries.
  • Free resources to run the competition include a printed wall map for the classroom, downloadable individual ‘passports’ for pupils, downloadable certificates for reaching ‘checkpoints’ and finishing the tour, and 'well done' stickers to print onto labels.

  • Prizes for winning pupils’ schools include a writing workshop from a top UK author (to be announced) and a book package worth £500.

  • Prizes for pupils include £50 of book vouchers and family tickets to a local attraction.
The competition is supported by Patron Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall. The winners, crowned the Diamond Reader and Diamond Writer, will be presented with a certificate signed by The Duchess herself!
The competition begins in April.
