New Books

Nicola Griffith has an informative little rant over on her blog, here. Basically, she's pointing out that unless you buy new books, you're not supporting authors. And I agree. Although, I think libraries are slightly different over here, in that authors do get paid a small royalty every time a book is checked out. But still, it's negligible compared to the benefits of greater book sales and a book royalty.

I think anyone who wants to see literature flourish should buy new books. I'd even urge you to buy direct from the author or their publisher--although, I know this may be asking a little too much. Regardless, it's worth having a read of Nicola's post.
